About the Cleveland Cultural Gardens
Cleveland is a city rich in its cultural diversity. The city has given its ethnic groups the opportunity to display their rich cultural diversity in a public display and global initiative known as the Cleveland Cultural Gardens. The Cleveland Cultural Gardens, founded in 1916, inhabits land that was donated by John D. Rockefeller within Rockefeller Park. The Gardens currently are home to 35 cultural gardens, including the British, Greek, Syrian, Turkish, Ethiopian, and many other cultural gardens. Each garden symbolizes their own cultural diversity and history, and together all gardens highlight the ethnic communities that make up Cleveland.
In 2017, Pakistan was invited to join the Cleveland Cultural Gardens and was designated a parcel of land to build the Pakistan Cultural Garden. Since then, wonderful growth has been made to honor the Pakistani community of Cleveland. |
About the Pakistan Cultural Garden
|
In 2016, a group of like-minded Pakistanis united to pursue the Pakistan Cultural Garden. They decided that the unique opportunity to showcase Pakistan’s rich culture amongst others in Cleveland was worthwhile. The Pakistan Cultural Garden aims to build connections and draw similarities to other cultural communities, showcase the rich culture of Pakistan, and shed positive light on Pakistan as a country. The making of the Pakistan Cultural Garden did not come easy. After many hurdles and the determination of a few community members, a portion of land within the Cleveland Cultural Garden was obtained to create the Pakistan Cultural Garden.

In an Interview with Kristen Gough on Friday April 28, 2017, "Dr. Mansoor Ahmed explained that they’d just planted an evergreen tree in the plot of land that will one day be the Pakistan Garden. He became more and more animated as he explained their group’s garden plans and their excitement about being part of the Cleveland Cultural Gardens."

making the Pakistan cultural garden a reality
Design and execution of the Pakistan Cultural Garden is underway. Once completed, we hope to display four beautiful mini gardens - each one representing one of Pakistan’s four provinces. In the center of the garden, we plan to build a replica of the “Minar E-Pakistan”, with the Pakistan flag waving high at the center. Throughout the garden, structures that are engraved with Pakistan’s history, poetry, founding leaders, and noble laureates will be displayed. And of course, the colors of the Pakistan flag, “Pakistan green”, will be the main theme throughout the garden.
