Cleveland is a truly a global city that takes pride in its ethnic diversity and cultural richness. The city has established many global initiatives that provide us great opportunities to highlight our national identities, display our rich cultural and social heritage to our fellow Americans and the world. Among others, Cleveland Cultural Gardens is perhaps one of the most unique establishments of its kind in the USA. Founded in 1916 on land donated by Rockefeller’, The Cleveland Cultural Gardens are located along Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd and the adjacent East Blvd. Currently 26 nationalities,  including British, Greek, Syrian, Turkish, Croatian, Indian and many others have developed their gardens, each symbolizing the cultural and national identity of its people. In 2017 Pakistan was also invited to become a part of this global establishment and a parcel of beautiful land has been designated to build Pakistan Cultural Garden.

How Pakistan Cultural Garden became a reality

In 2016 a group of like-minded Pakistanis came together and realized that Pakistan Cultural Garden would be a unique opportunity to represent their country, and the mostly fun-loving and hard-working people of Pakistan. This venture promises to be  a gesture of friendship and a great way to introduce the lighter side of Pakistan to other communities. After a lot of deliberations, fueled by the determination and hard work of few, they were successful in obtaining a much coveted area of land, which they can make into our own Pakistan Cultural Garden.

In an Interview with Kristen Gough on Friday April 28, 2017, "Dr. Mansoor Ahmed explained that they’d just planted an evergreen tree in the plot of land that will one day be the Pakistan Garden. He became more and more animated as he explained their group’s garden plans and their excitement about being part of the Cleveland Cultural Gardens."

Future Plan

When completed, Pakistan Cultural Garden will be the first of it’s kind national monument in the entire United States. Design and planning for Pakistan Cultural Garden is underway. We envision to have four beautiful mini gardens, each representing Pakistan's four provinces. In the center of the mini gardens, we plan to have a replica of 'Minar-e-Pakistan', with our beautiful  flag flying  high on the top. The garden will also include well designed engraved structures that will display the history of Pakistan, a select piece of Iqbal's poetry engraved on a piece of green marble and the names of our founders and our noble laureates.
